With the festive season behind us, attention turns to what 2026 has to offer. Here are a few suggestions for the third week of the year.
Strengthen early bonds through gentle touch at Newborn as a Family – a supportive session at Eltereforum designed for expectant parents and families with babies up to 12 months. Focusing on physical closeness as a foundation for connection, the workshop offers a calm space to explore how touch can support attachment, reassurance and everyday family life.
The session takes place on Monday 12 January from 2-4pm and forms part of a wider thematic series that can be booked individually. After a short relaxation exercise, parents are guided through a brief input on the day’s theme, followed by open discussion and shared reflection with other families. More details here.
Step into a world of imagination and adventure at Dungeons and Dragons for Kids, a beginner-friendly role-playing session at Aalt Stadhaus designed to introduce young players to collaborative storytelling. Guided through a fantastical universe of heroes, dragons and mysteries, children are encouraged to create their own characters, solve puzzles and work together through playful challenges.
The session takes place on Tuesday 13 January at 14.30 and runs for 2.5 hours. Open to children aged 8 to 12, the workshop is organised by the Municipal Library of Differdange and combines creativity, teamwork and problem-solving in a relaxed, humorous setting. More details here.
Browse books on wheels on the Bicherbus (Book bus) in Kleinbettingen, as Luxembourg’s mobile library makes a stop in the village, offering readers of all ages the chance to discover, borrow and return books close to home. The relaxed, drop-in format makes it easy to explore new titles and chat with the library team.
The book bus visits Kleinbettingen on Wednesday 14 January and Wednesday 4 February from 15.00–15.45, parking on Main Street (CR110) near the cemetery, within the Commune de Steinfort. More details here.
Spark curiosity about the natural world at a Nature Quiz for children aged 6 to 8 at Luxembourg’s National Museum of Natural History (Musée national d’histoire naturelle). Through a series of short, interactive quizzes, young participants explore different nature-related topics in a playful, age-appropriate way.
The activity takes place on Thursday 15 January from 14.30–17.00 at the museum in Grund, located at 25 Rue Münster, Luxembourg. More details here.
On a distant planet lives Caniche Royal. He is drawn to everything that shines. He spends his days trying to imitate what he admires – but he fails: Caniche Royal does not shine. Despair sets in.
One day, however, the unexpected happens. A being from another planet arrives. Will Caniche Royal lift his snout high enough to see it? Will he sense the glow right beneath his nose? Can an encounter with this strange creature rekindle his sense of wonder?
In this visual performance, directors Audrey Dero and Oriane Varak join forces to create a playful, offbeat pop form in Aubange, Belgium. More details here.
Browse pre-loved children’s clothing, toys and everyday essentials at the Children’s secondhand market in Bissen, offering families a practical and sustainable way to pass on items and pick up bargains. The informal market setting makes it easy to browse, exchange and give children’s goods a second life. The event takes place on Saturday 17 January in Bissen, hosted by the Commune de Bissen, at 10 Rue de la Laiterie. More details here.
Villa Vauban is opening its workshop space to families for an afternoon of hands-on art making, inviting children of all ages to experiment with different materials and techniques alongside their parents. With support from instructors, participants can paint, assemble and model freely, focusing on process rather than finished results. The session is multilingual and runs on a drop-in basis, allowing families to join at any point during the afternoon. More details here.
