Whether you are a fan of all things wine or looking for some dinner table topics, this episode of Mom Life in Luxembourg might be just for you.

Today on the show I welcome Lyon based wine expert, Caroline Fazeli. Yes, I know. Lyon is not in Luxembourg. But she is an expat living her best life in France, so we have lots to talk about! Caroline is not only a sommelier and wine expert, but also hosts wine tastings & tours in Lyon, and is the host of the new podcast The Real Fishwives of Paris, which is all about French cuisine and wine culture.

Caroline’s impressive wine credentials were honed at Oxford, where she joined the Competitive Blind Wine Tasting Society, a group described as the "wine Illuminati". This unique education paved her way into the wine industry, leading to her WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) certification in London.

While recording this episode, I admit I felt a little out of my depth – she went to university at Oxford and was sniffing and swirling wines. I went to university in San Diego so my weekends were spent in Tijuana taking tequila shots. However, I didn’t let this stop me from asking her questions about the grapes, what someone can expect of wines from each of the regions, and how to choose a good one.

From sharing her favourite under-the-radar vineyards to explaining how to spot a standout bottle (even at the grocery store), Caroline makes the world of wine feel approachable, fun, and just a little bit fabulous. Whether you’re already a wine lover or just want to sound impressive at your next dinner party, this episode has something for you.

Burgundy, Beaujolais and Bordeaux. An intro to French wines with Caroline Fazeli

Beyond her adventures among the vines, Caroline is the creative force behind Wine Dine Caroline, where she pairs her expertise with plenty of humour and charm. Her latest project, The Real Fishwives of Paris, is shaping up to be a must-listen for anyone who loves a little sass with their Sauvignon. In our conversation, she shares her expat story, her Oxford-to-Lyon journey, and the serendipitous turns that led her to a life filled with passion, purpose, and Pinot Noir.

So pour yourself a glass, sit back, and join us for this lively episode that celebrates good wine, great conversation, and finding your place in the world – one sip at a time.
