We have all done it – ordered a last minute birthday gift on Amazon Prime. Made a quick dash into the toy section in Auchan to satisfy your child’s latest whim. Spent a fortune on a flimsy piece of plastic, which is unlikely to see out the week. But if you are looking for somewhere more sustainable and local, where would you choose? Let’s take a look at some of the options on offer in the Grand Duchy for the next time you go toy shopping!

Luxembourg City

Over the past twenty years, Ars Libri in Bonnevoie has gained a reputation as being a toy paradise. Offering an extensive selection of toys, games, and teddies from brands such as BigJigs, Jellycat, Kapla, and Schleich, the team focuses on offering products made from sustainable materials and enjoy helping customers find the perfect toy.

Le Reservoir on Grand Rue in Luxembourg City has a good selection of board games, video games, comic books, and figurines. They stock items such as Harry Potter merchandise, Lilo and Stitch, Hello Kitty, and lots of cool manga stuff. You can order online.

For any fans of collectible card games such as Star Wars Unlimited or Magic the Gathering, head over to FANTASYBOX in Belair. They have lots of comic books available, including manga and anime. They also sell some very cool retro stuff like Care Bears or Ninja Turtles, as well as popular figurines and plushies of characters from Disney or The Avengers and the like.

For more manga, figurines, and Asian food, take a look at the Manga Factory in the Gare district. It opened in Spring 2025 and claims to be the best place to go for a bit of Japanese pop culture!

Another fairly new addition to the Luxembourg toy shop scene is the English Game Shop on Avenue de la Gare, whose English-language board games and card games are categorised into groups such as family games, children’s games and party games. Their knowledgeable staff are on hand to help you navigate your way through the vast choice available!

Spread across no fewer than five floors, Domino in Luxembourg city calls itself an Ali Baba’s cave of wonders! Each floor is clearly signposted: from birthday gifts to arts and crafts, there is plenty to be found in this central treasure trove!

Head to JBF Toys and Trains for all things to do with model trains and vehicles – they even advertise building your very own Schueberfouer! But they don’t just sell train sets – they have an extensive selection of LEGO, including vintage stuff and minifigures, and LEGO advent calendars!

Outside the City

Another shop whose goal is to provide you with a wonderful world of LEGO bricks, minifigures, and sets is LToys in Niederanven. You can order online and they will ship it to you the next day if they have it in stock. Disney, DC, Harry Potter, Minecraft, Lego Friends, you name it, they’ll have it. They also sell Hot Wheels, Pokémon, and a few other lines.

You might pick up a cute outfit for your little one in Beetles & Bugs in Niederanven as you browse the soft toys, wooden toys, and puzzles for younger children. They also sell Tonieboxes and Tonies, which are worth looking into as they promote screen-free quiet time with story telling and music.

Another great idea for screen-free stories and songs is the Yoto audio player. From toddler tunes to tween audiobooks, you can buy a huge array of Yoto cards, and there are a couple of stockists in Luxembourg. One is the Natures & Découvertes shop in the Belle Étoile shopping centre in Bertrange, which also sells unique gifts for children of all ages.

In Bereldange, the Unicorner Concept Store sells a lovely selection of sustainable toys. It is also home to The Party Boutique which where you can find dressing up outfits, gifts and party supplies, as well as beautiful children’s clothes and shoes next door in Mintmouse.

Rischette in Junglinster is a department store which has a large selection of toys and games. Also in Junglinster, aimed at a slightly younger audience, is Holzhaischen where you can pick up some lovely wooden items such as puppet theatres and outdoor mud kitchens.

Abitare Kids in Junglinster primarily sells children’s furniture and large items such as highchairs and prams, but they also have a toy section including outdoor items such as trampolines and climbing frames.

Heading east, Samkats in Echternach offers a wide selection of toys and board games, as well as books for ages 0–99, and games and accessories for consoles such as Playstation, Switch, and XBox.

Meeple Monastery is a board game shop also in Echternach where you will find all the usual board games and party games, as well as trading cards and strategy games.

In Diekirch, you will find a great selection of dressing up clothes as the Grand Bazar – ranging from historically accurate outfits to Disney characters such as Darth Vader and Mickey Mouse. They also sell toys.

At Dumong in Ettelbruck, the toys are categorised into groups such as movement, imagination, discovery, and creation. Here you will find ride on toys such as balance bikes, scooters, and pedal tractors. There is also a dedicated section filled with children’s literature.

Further north, you'll find a large selection of diecast vehicles as well as Funko Pops and figurines in Nick's Diecast Corner in Clervaux.

If you’re looking for something a bit bigger such as a snooker table, dartboard, or table football, head to Bertrange where the staff at Léo-Automatiques can help you find what you are looking for. They also have air hockey, ping pong tables and garden darts!

Jactal is in Foetz and boasts toys from brands such as Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, and Bluey for little ones, as well as Marvel, Demon Slayer and Super Mario for older children. Check out their Facebook page for details about new releases.

Predominantly a children's clothing store, Bubble in Belval also sell puzzles, children's musical instruments and even some ride on toys.

In Bascharage, Retro Ramen has a collection of games, cards, figures, and collectibles including manga and anime such as Dragon Ball and Naruto. Feidt in nearby Pétange is a department store with a large section of children's toys.

For video games and consoles, head to Playerone in Differdange where you can buy, sell, and exchange your old games for new ones.

Most charity shops have a toy section but the Butzebuttik takes this one step further – almost the entire store is given over to children’s toys, clothes, and accessories. There is always a delightful window display to gaze upon, but do venture inside to have a proper look and pick up a bargain.
