“Whereas LinkedIn is for those who are motivated, driven, and eager to share their accomplishments and network with like-minded people, SlinkedIn is for everyone else”, says founder Hannu Laiska, who for years tried in vain to act like he actually cared about IT.
“SlinkedIn is for people who never show up early and roll their eyes whenever anyone in the company shows enthusiasm or initiative”, he said.
“It’s for those who start each week with a feeling of deadness and spend most of their work day counting the minutes until it’s all over.”
Laiska says that the site now has over 20,000 active members in Luxembourg alone, a figure he expects to grow to 100,000 by the end of the year.
“SlinkedIn is the place for you to share achievements that might be laughable to everyone else but are a big deal to you”, he says.
“Things like catching up on emails, finding a good excuse to get out of going to next week’s team-building day, or getting the facilities team to bring you a better stapler.”
Laiska says that networking is indeed a central part of his platform, and he hopes to organise social events.
“If anyone has the motivation to show up, that is, which they probably won’t because they have better things to do”, he said. “And I don’t blame them.”
