Get back into the Luxembourgish crime-thriller series Capitani!
Who says you can't have fun by staying in? Here are some out-of-the-box ideas for you to enjoy from home during a weekend of quarantine.
1. LIVE aus der STUFF - nightly living room concerts
What: Livestreamed concerts, poetry and dance
Where: online on this faceboook page
When: Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March at 8pm
The music industry is paralysed by the cancellation of shows and concerts. Artists that had scheduled tours are having to live with the (financial) burden of not being able to get out there and perform. “Live aus der Stuff” is a live performance project organised nightly during the coronavirus restriction period. Initiated by Luxembourg singer-songwriter Serge Tonnar, powered by artists’ collective MASKéNADA and funded by the Ministry of Culture in Luxembourg, the platform invites performing artists of all disciplines to broadcast live from their homes. Tune in each night for something truly inspiring and different!
20 March: Serge Tonnar
21 March: Roland Meyer
22 March: Bartleby Delicate

2. Binge-Watch Luxembourg's Crime Series "Capitani"
What: Follow a Luxembourgish murder investigation
Where: Watch all episodes here.
When: no set time, as you prefer!
The body of a young girl has been found in the woods surrounding the small northern village of Manscheid. Detective Luc Capitani is called to investigate the mysterious case of murder. But Luc, who hails from the southern Minette region, soon encounters difficulty in comprehending the villagers' mentality. He is assisted in the investigation by young local police officer Elsa Ley. The detective finds himself embroiled in a complicated web of intrigue, where nothing is as it seems, and local residents know more than they are letting on.
Capitani was a huge hit in Luxembourg, especially due to the fact that all episodes are subtitled in English, making it the perfect excuse to learn Luxembourgish while watching some crime action.

3. Start your own indoor vegetable garden
What: Quarantine? We don't carrot all.
Where: the bright window sill
When: keep growing 'em 24 hours a day
Not only are veggies good to boost your immune system, they also seem to taste multiple times better if you grow and harvest them yourself. Luxembourg's housing prices are high enough so many of us live in apartments, but that shouldn't stop us from growing some organic greens.
As most shops are closed, you'll have to do with planting seeds or leaves from store-bought vegetables in your kitchen, e.g. tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, carrots, sage, basil or others. With some small pots and a bit of soil, light and water you'll be harvesting a couple grams in a few weeks! God knows how long this quarantine will last.

4. (Re)discover Lego Technic
What: spend hours building a truck only to find out you messed up in step 2, then start over
Where: preferably a quiet room...
When: Late-night shifts
Isn't this every child's dream? Buying the largest LEGO Technic item out there and spending weeks assembling this godly piece of beauty? Well, now that you're in need of a quiet, in-door hobby, have a look online and get yourself a challenging building set. Prices start somewhere around €20 and can go up to a shocking €450 for the Technic Excavator (I think your author is more excited about this than you are).

5. Enjoy the best of Luxembourg's music videos
What: Local talent with big productions
Where: under the shower to sing-along or during the spring clean-up?
When: Throughout the day
The Luxembourg Music Export office Music:LX, which supports artists from Luxembourg abroad with tours and promotion, have combined three excellent playlists in the catagories of "Pop/Rock/Urban/Electro", "Jazz" and "Classical/Contemporary" - you'll be stunned by the level of performance and artistic vision, and they're all in some form or another related to the Grand Duchy!

6. Watch all Tom Hanks movies
What: One of the greatest actors of all time
Where: Wherever the TV or laptop is
When: Mornings are permitted!
Poor Tom has also been positively diagnosed with corona, so why don't we mentally support him by watching some of his best work? Classics include Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Captain Phillips, Apollo 13, Catch Me If You Can, Larry Crowne, Cast Away...the list goes on for ever. The latter, Cast Away, is also about Hanks coping with isolation and loneliness. Get well soon, Tom.

7. Enter the world of podcasts
What: celebrating and enjoying the "new" reading
Where: Podbean, Audible, and plenty of other podcast websites.
When: as you see fit
RTL Today colleague Martin once wrote a great article about his five favourite comedy podcasts. Podcasts are the new rave in this day and age, as they fit perfectly to our world of continuous mobility and multitasking. Cleaning the house? Listen to a podcast. Preparing a meal? Listen to a podcast. Putting the kids to sleep? Listen to a podcast. Taking a long poop? Listen to a podcast.
