California metalcore legends Atreyu are storming into Rockhal on October 14 as part of their tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough album The Curse. Released in 2004, the record helped define a generation of heavy music fans with its mix of melodic hooks, punishing riffs and emotional intensity.
Two decades later, the band is bringing it back to life; re-recorded, reimagined and more powerful than ever.
Formed in 1998 in Yorba Linda, Atreyu emerged at a time when metalcore was still carving out its identity. They've since evolved their sound without ever losing the core of what made them stand out.
Guitarist Dan Jacobs credits ‘80s rock and the Gothenburg metal scene as key influences, while bassist Marc “Porter” McKnight points to everything from Johnny Cash to Green Day as fuel for their creative fire. That mix of styles is part of what’s always set them apart.
From brutal breakdowns to soaring choruses, Atreyu’s live shows are a lesson in controlled chaos. With a current lineup featuring Brandon Saller on vocals (Steps’ interview with the band is out very soon), Jacobs and Travis Miguel on guitars, McKnight on bass and unclean vocals, and Kyle Rosa behind the kit, this tour promises to hit with the full weight of the past and the momentum of the present.
For fans old and new, this is a rare chance to hear The Curse played with the energy it deserves.
