The Last Dinner Party have returned with This Is The Killer Speaking, the first single from their upcoming second album From The Pyre, set for release on 17 October via Island Records.

Following the breakout success of their debut Prelude to Ecstasy, which hit number one in 2023, the London five-piece step into a darker, more mythic world on this new record. The band describe From The Pyre as “a collection of stories” bound by a shared mythology, a place of “violence and destruction but also regeneration, passion and light.”

The new single captures that tone from the start. With its intense character-driven lyrics, This Is The Killer Speaking reimagines a simple moment of being ghosted as a surreal and theatrical standoff. It’s bold, charged and full of arresting imagery, leaning into the group’s love of drama without losing their pop instinct.

“This record feels a little darker, more raw and more earthy,” the band shared. “It also feels metatextual and cheeky in places, like a knowing look reflected back at ourselves.”

The album was recorded earlier this year with Grammy-winning producer Markus Dravs, known for his work with Florence and the Machine, Wolf Alice and Björk. According to the band, the sessions focused less on pressure and more on creativity, allowing them to push their sound in new directions while still working as a tight unit honed by months on the road.

The full album tracklist includes songs titled Agnus Dei, Rifle, The Scythe, and Woman Is A Tree, hinting at an expansive and symbol-rich narrative landscape.

With two BRIT Awards already under their belt and a global run of sold-out shows behind them, The Last Dinner Party’s return feels anything but cautious. If This Is The Killer Speaking is any indication, From The Pyre is poised to be a theatrical, fearless follow-up that deepens their voice and vision.
