Catherine Ringer, celebrated as the iconic voice of Les Rita Mitsouko, died overnight from Monday to Tuesday following a battle with cancer. Alongside her life and stage partner Fred Chichin, she founded the famed duo in the 1980s, making their breakthrough with hits such as "Marcia Baïla", "Andy", "C'est comme ça", and "Les histoires d'amour finissent mal." Chichin died of cancer in 2007 at the age of 53.
After Chichin's passing, Ringer continued to perform and embarked on a solo career, remaining an influential presence in the French music scene. In addition to her musical pursuits, she devoted herself to poetry and was known for her outspoken engagement against far-right politics.
