Some gigs leave you impressed. Others leave you entertained. But once in a while, you stumble upon a show that completely rewires your brain. Last week at Rockhal, Heilung and Eivør did exactly that.
The place was packed, and for good reason. This wasn’t just another concert – it was a full-blown experience, something primal, raw, and deeply immersive.
From the moment Eivør stepped on stage, I knew we were in for something special.
I’ve been a fan of Eivør for a while, but seeing her live is a whole other level. Her voice is unreal – pure, haunting, and somehow both delicate and thunderous at the same time.
The control she has over her vocals is mind-blowing, but what really gets me is how effortlessly she pulls you into whatever world she’s creating. The standout moment for me was Trøllabundin.
The second that hypnotic drum pattern started, you could feel the energy shift in the room. She built it up so slowly, almost teasing the crowd, and then just let it explode into this overwhelming wall of sound. It wasn’t just a performance – it was magic.
By the time she left the stage, I was completely floored and beyond hyped for what was coming next.
And then… Heilung.
I knew their live shows were something special, but absolutely nothing could have prepared me for this. From the second they stepped on stage, it felt like the air in the room changed.
This wasn’t a band playing songs – it was a full-scale ritual. A ceremony. The warlike chants, the pounding drums, the eerie, whispered incantations – it was hypnotic, almost unsettling at times, and completely mesmerizing. There were moments when I caught myself holding my breath, just trying to take in everything that was happening.
Visually, it was staggering. The stage looked like something straight out of a Viking fever dream – towering antlers, tribal war paint, cloaks, torches. It felt ancient, like we’d all been transported back to some long-forgotten era.
And the sound?
Absolutely unreal.
The deep throat-sung drones, the ritualistic drumming, the sheer weight of the atmosphere – it wasn’t just something you heard. It got inside you.

During Krigsgaldr, I looked around and saw that everyone in the room was moving as one. Not like at a regular gig where people are just bouncing around – it was different. Like we were all caught in the same pulse, the same rhythm, without even thinking about it. It was one of the most powerful things I’ve ever witnessed at a live show.
I’ve been to a lot of concerts, but this? This was something else entirely. If you’ve never seen Heilung live, you need to. I don’t care if you’re into folk music, metal, electronic, or none of the above – this is something that goes beyond genre.
It’s theatrical, it’s visceral, it’s hypnotic, and it’s easily the most unforgettable concert experience I’ve ever had.
If they ever come anywhere near you trust me. Go.
