The Irish Singer-Songwriter is set to play his first concert in the Grand Duchy since 2016.
In a recent interview with Today Radio, Irish singer-songwriter Gavin James shared exciting insights into his latest musical endeavors and upcoming performances. He enthusiastically discussed his new single, Goldrush, his forthcoming album, an expanded band sound, and his anticipation for the upcoming concert, organised by den Atelier, at Op der Schmelz in Dudelange on 23 March.
Lead single Goldrush, released last month, marks a vibrant shift in James' musical style. The track blends R&B and rock vibes, diverging from his previous acoustic-centered works.
James described the song as a reflection on overcoming challenging times and confronting inner struggles, while also reflecting a return to his musical roots: "I love playing electric, and I don't play it enough at the gigs. I think because when I started off playing in Temple Bar, I was just playing acoustic so I feel like I'm kinda coming back to the louder rock and roll kind of stuff than compared to the other stuff I had."
This single offers a glimpse into his upcoming fourth studio album, slated for release later this year. Fans can expect a fresh sound, as James has embraced more electric guitars and solos, infusing his music with a rockier edge. Reflecting on his evolution, he shared: "Production wise, it was very fun to kinda have my go at it a little bit with with this new album, a bit daunting, but I'm happy with it and with the way it turned out, to be honest. Because it's a lot different than any of the other stuff that that I did."
In addition to new music, James' live performance has grown since his last appearance in the Grand Duchy by incorporating a larger band. This change aims to enhance the energy and depth of his shows, creating a more dynamic experience for audiences. He noted: "The lads that I've had in the band are the lads that are playing on the record and they are next level players."
