Brad Arnold, lead singer, songwriter and founding member of rock band 3 Doors Down, has died following a battle with cancer. He was 47.

The band confirmed his death in a statement shared on social media on Saturday, saying he passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his wife Jennifer and family, after what they described as a courageous fight with the disease. They added he would be “deeply missed and forever remembered”.

3 Doors Down rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits including Kryptonite, and Here Without You. Arnold wrote the band’s breakout single Kryptonite when he was just 15 years old.

Arnold revealed in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 clear cell renal carcinoma, a form of kidney cancer that had spread to his lung.
