Following Latvia's decision to forfeit their last match against the Red Lions, Luxembourg face their most important test of the season. Their final fixture against Finland will decide who has a chance at promotion in a winner takes all playoff match.
The Rugby Europe Conference is divided into five regional pools split between 21 teams, with only one nation being promoted to the Rugby Europe Trophy. Currently, Luxembourg sit top of pool A having won all of their respective games. The two best teams will face each other in a playoff match for promotion to the Rugby Europe Trophy. They have scored 181 points, conceding only six – which bodes well for promotion. However, with teams such as Austria, Malta, and Ukraine hot on their tales, a convincing performance will be needed to cement their place in the crucial playoff spot.
A bonus point win would see Finland surpass Luxembourg in their pool, so anything less than a victory would be catastrophic to their chances.
