With fireworks, dancing, and a torchlight procession, the 20th Games of the Small States were officially launched in Andorra on Monday night.
Shortly before 11pm, the Games' flame was lit inside Andaorra's national football stadium in a festive ceremony that marked the official start of the competition. The opening night featured drummers, acrobats, and a celebratory atmosphere, culminating in a colourful fireworks display.
As the delegations entered the stadium, Team Luxembourg made its appearance third in line, proudly led by flag bearers Alex Kirsch and Magaly Meynadier.
Prince Félix and Sports Minister Georges Mischo were on hand to welcome the Luxembourg athletes and will be cheering them on throughout the week.
The President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, also attended the opening, with this years' Games marking his final appearance in the role. In his address, Bach encouraged the athletes to enjoy the unique spirit of the Games in the picturesque setting of Andorra.
The first competitions are set to begin on Tuesday, with athletes from across Europe's smallest nations now officially in the hunt for medals.
