Football fever is upon us! For those who don’t enjoy the sport, the next month will be filled with anguish and struggle… However, for football enthusiasts, few occasions rival the excitement of the Euros. Here are some of the best places to watch the tournament in the Grand Duchy.
Although Luxembourg narrowly missed out on participating, there are still plenty of places to watch, enjoy, and live vicariously through our neighboring countries. Enjoy our selection:
In Luxembourg City
The Yard - Theatre National de Luxembourg - Merl
Nestled on the side of the Avenue de dix Septembre in Merl, The Yard is one of the best fanzone experiences you can have in the Grand-Duchy. A big screen and outdoor space for around 180 spectators makes the venue ideal for a viewing experience that can give off the atmosphere of a (very small) stadium. They will be showing all of the games too!

Another great venue that will be showing all of the games (other than this Saturday and the coming Tuesday) is the Rotondes. Many people’s summer go-to for after work drinks will be amplified this month by the inclusion of an outdoor big screen. Some games will even feature commentary by some of the staff which will make the whole thing more fun and engaging! Check out their socials to see which ones will be commentated on.
The Grund - Old town
The plethora of bars that exist in Luxembourg’s scenic old town will be showing the games as well. There are many to choose from with a pub-like feel including Updown bar, Liquid, Scott’s and Oscar’s — all have a variety of screens where you can lose track of time and watch all three games in one day. Oscar’s has a covered terrace with two screens, where you can enjoy great food outdoors even if the weather isn’t great.
Luxembourg’s newest sports bar serves good food and quite possibly has the most screens out of any bar in the city. It is a traditional sports bar with all the decor to go with it and they also do a happy hour between 4-7 where whatever drink you buy, you will get the one after for free. A great place to go with friends!
One of the country’s top petanque playing venues has transformed into a very laid back fanzone, where you can enjoy watching the football outdoors on comfy couches as well as an array of different seating arrangements. It’s a great venue with a big city feel to it, perfect for all ages as the kids can go play on the playground if they get a bit bored of watching Southgate ball…
Outside of the Capital
Now — you may not have the time to go out to some Greek islands and watch the football on the beach but you have the next best thing(ish) on the Moselle. Enjoy some amazing cocktails while basking in the, hopefully present, sun on an artificial beach. They will be showing midweek games from 6pm and all of the fixtures on the weekends.

For residents of the north, one of the best places to enjoy the football would be at this establishment. They will have two TV screens outdoors, with plenty of seating made available and their terrace was voted as the terrace of the year in 2023. Why wouldn’t you go and drink Diekirch in Diekirch on an amazing terrace?
If you’re looking for a more hands on approach and really want to immerse yourself into the life of a footballer then maybe Sport4Lux is for you. They have numerous indoor football pitches where you could play a game with friends before gathering in the sports bar that they have on site.
In the west of the country, there is a great beer garden at the Café Kleng Gemeng equipped with big screens. If the football gets a bit too boring then you can do some traditional Luxembourgish keelen and enjoy some of their beers too.
Café de Paris - Mondorf-les-Bains
The town in the southeast of the country is also preparing for the Euros, and what a day you could have with a visit. Enjoy the thermal baths in the morning, then head down the road to a quaint café equipped with a huge outdoor screen. The café offers a lovely terrace with good food and drinks, making it a place not to be missed for the more discerning football fans.
Showing the latter stages of the tournament
When it comes to the business end of the tournament, the country starts to pull out the big guns and put on public viewing events. Here are three spots that are guaranteed to be football hubs post the group stages.
The car park is being transformed for the summer where it will play host to numerous concerts but it will also be fit with a 50-square-meter screen all set for the last 16 of the Euros which starts on the 29 June. Every time it has been set up, it has always been a success and thousands of people flock to see the biggest games.

Dudelange will also be playing host to a big screen on the Place de l’Hotel ville where you can watch the semi-finals and final of the tournament. In the period between these games they will also be showcasing some classic films such as the Big Lebowski and Ghostbusters.
The day of the final, Ettelbrück will also have a big screen on at the Place de L’Eglise where you can watch the events unfold all with the scenic backdrop of a church.
Probably one of the most football obsessed places in the country will also get the giant screen out for the last 16 of the tournament on the Place de Resistance. Expect a great atmosphere especially if the Portuguese and Italian teams progress!
