Luxembourg's Kikuoka Country Club is set to host the prestigious European Senior Men's and Ladies' Championships from 13–15 June, marking the nation's return to the forefront of European golf after years, with 144 top amateur players competing in this historic event.
From 13–15 June, the FLG (Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Golf) is hosting the European Senior Men's and Ladies' Championships at Kikuoka Country Club.
Luxembourg has not hosted a tournament of this scale in years. The event will assemble 90 male amateur players and 54 female amateur players from all over Europe who will showcase their skills at Kikuoka Country Club in Canach. The luxurious 4-star hotel, designed by Japanese architect Iwao Uematsu in 1991, is situated in the beautiful Moselle region and offers 120 acres of playing field.
What is the link between Luxembourg and the EGA?
The European Golf Association (EGA) was founded during a conference in the Grand Duchy on 20 November 1937 with the goal of promoting the sport across the whole continent. Their emphasis lies on making golf a communal and sustainable sport by organising tournaments for players of all levels.
Now, closely working with the European Golf Association, the FLG, the official golf authority in Luxembourg, announces that their goal is to make golf known in Luxembourg, work on a good reputation globally, as well as reinforce the sport's positive impact on human health and the environment.
In a press statement, FLG president Marc Schmit awarded praise for this event to his predecessor Christian Schock, who fought hard to obtain the organisation's trust. Schmit hopes that this tournament will make the players want to return to Luxembourg in the future.
The tournament is free of charge for any golf fiends or those curious about the event. And to any players: May the course be with you!
