The Uelzechtdall Trail celebrated its first edition in Lorentzweiler on Sunday, bringing together the culmination of considerable effort from an organising team with no shortage of experience.
Several familiar faces from the trail running scene, including veterans of the Mullerthal Trail, were behind the event, driven by a desire to bring a trail race to the Uelzechtdall valley. Securing the necessary authorisations, rallying volunteers and enlisting the support of the municipality were all part of the groundwork, and the team awaited feedback from participants with great anticipation.
In the women’s race, Liz Nepper crossed the line ahead of Shefi Xhaferaj, while Max Lallemang claimed victory in the men’s race, edging out Lucas Clees. Clees, a specialist in longer distances, found the 17km course perhaps too short to truly hit his stride. Walkers also had their place in the event. By all accounts the day was a resounding success, leaving the path clear for a second edition.
