Cristiano Ronaldo and his mates from the Portuguese national team trained together at Stade Josy Barthel on Monday ahead of the evening's game against Luxembourg.
Even at the age of 36, the Juventus attacker remains the undisputed star of the Portuguese selection. Unsurprisingly, a number of fans tried to get a glimpse of Ronaldo when he left his hotel in Kirchberg to train at Stade Josy Barthel.
Under the lead of coach Fernando Santos, the Portuguese players began their training session at 5.30 on Monday. Journalists and photographers had access to the training site for fifteen minutes, after which the team continued practising without spectators until 7pm. The Red Lions then took the pitch to conduct their preparations.
Cristiano Ronaldo will have to once again grace the hallowed turf which he described as a field of potatoes in 2019, as the new stadium's construction works have been delayed due to the pandemic.
The Portuguese team arrived in the Grand Duchy on Sunday. The 2022 World Cup qualifier is scheduled for Tuesday 8.45pm. The team will leave the country again on Wednesday.
