From Saturday 2pm to Sunday 2pm, the ultra-distance cyclist completed a distance of 915,39 kilometres.

Two weeks ago, Ralph "Dizzy" Diseviscourt announced that he would attempt to break the world record for the longest distance cycled within 24 hours.

Cycling around the barrier lake in Vianden, the Luxembourgish cyclist had already surpassed the necessary 895km mark by 1.28pm.

Previously Austrialian cyclist Mitch Anderson held the official record at 894km, while Austrian Christopher Strasser was at an unofficial number one with 914km.

But Ralph Diseviscourt also broke a number of other world records, specifically those of 100, 300 and 500km (or 100, 300 and 500 miles), as well as the six hour record.

The athlete also received a letter from Minister of Sport Dan Kersch congratulating him for his feat and stating that Diseviscourt had "made the country proud".
