Reuter was elected president of the Luxembourgish football league on Monday.

The president of Racing FC Union Luxembourg will thus become successor of Pascal Wagner, who resigned the previous weekend.

Tensions between the league and the FLF had erupted over the weekend, when the former released a press statement accusing federation president Paul Philipp of putting excessive pressure on Wagner. Karine Reuter has now stepped in to calm the situation:
"The past few days have shown that we need to improve how we communicate with each other."

The league still opposes the suggested interim season with 15 teams in the first devision. Nevertheless, Reuter is optimistic about cooperation in the future:

"We had a very constructive internal meeting last night, and I already had a talk with Mr Phiipp, which I can also say was positive. I have no doubt that we can find a common solution on Monday."

Reuter, who was a judge for more than ten years, is determined to improve the relationship between league and federation: "I have learned to listen to both sides during a conflict. I believe dialogue always trumps dispute."
