RTL Today
History, art, great food, sports and many other leisure activities await you in Wiltz, the town also known as the capital of the Ardennes.

A good place to start is Luxembourg‘s national beer museum, located in the town’s cas-tle, where you can discover everything there is to know about the history and evolution of the art of beer brewing. Afterwards, soak up the atmosphere of an authentic tavern from the time of the “Belle Epoque“ at Café Jhang Primus.

If you’re still thirsty for more knowledge about the process of beer brewing you can pro-ceed to the micro-brewery, where you will not just learn about the various steps involved in brewing, the fermentation process and perfect storage, but also how to brew – and taste – your own beer.

A small part of the museum is dedicated to Wiltz’s leather industry. In the period between the two world wars, Wiltz supplied leather to the entire world, and around 1950 it boasted the largest luxury leather factory of western Europe.

Speaking of war, Wiltz is also home to the museum of the Battle of the Bulge 1944-1945, with a section dedicated to the liberation of Wiltz itself. Brand-new is the Pompjees-musée, the fire-brigade museum of the Luxembourg fire-brigade union, which narrates the history of firemen from the early days until now. The museum is located ”an der Géitz“ in Nidderwolz.

For those craving physical activity, Wiltz and the Uewersauer nature park offer a plethora of walking and cycling paths, along which you can discover the stunning landscape of the Luxembourgish Ardennes. If the weather’s nice, bring friends and family and enjoy the outdoor pool at the Kaul leisure park, or have fun at the bike park, skate park or on the playing ground. The PC 20 national cycle path, which follows the course of an old rail-way track, allows visitors to leisurely ride their electric bikes all the way to Bastogne. RentaBike Ardenne at the Kaul Camping, and Wiltz Castle rent out all manner of bikes.

If you’re up for a truly extraordinary experience, you must absolutely try and take part in a torch-lit hike during summer. It takes you from the castle to the Jardin de Wiltz, an extraor-dinary, live work of art in the form of a garden, which you can visit at any time during the day throughout the whole week. If the weather’s poor, you can play a round of mini-golf at Eschweiler near Wiltz or indeed visit any of the aforementioned museums.

This is just a small part of the many discoveries and activities that Wiltz has in store for you this year. For further information and to see the complete program of all the activities on offer, check out the website www.wiltz.lu

For a satisfying end to your trip, a large number of restaurants and hotels await you, such as the HOTEL- RESTAURANT BEIM SCHLASS, the HOTEL- RESTAURANT AUX TAN-NERIES DE WILTZ and the CAMPING-PARK KAUL. Take part in the contest, and with a bit of luck you may win a gift voucher for two, to spend a lovely weekend in Wiltz, meals and a two-night stay included.
