Rotondes is one of Luxembourg’s most intimate live music venues, and it’s the perfect setting for a band whose shows are as immersive as they are intense. This is the kind of gig where you feel fully inside the sound rather than watching it from a distance.

Often shortened to TAGABOW, the Philadelphia-based shoegaze band began as the solo project of singer and guitarist Doug Dulgarian and has since grown into a full band with Emily Lofing on bass, PJ Carroll on guitar, and Ben Opatuton drums. Their music is dense, emotional and physical, blending classic shoegaze textures with unexpected influences from drum and bass, breakcore, jungle and even reggaeton. They have frequently been compared to My Bloody Valentine, while still carving out a sound that feels distinctly their own.

Fans can also look forward to hearing material connected to the band’s next chapter. LOTTO, their fourth studio album, is scheduled for release in October 2025. The record grew out of Dulgarian’s self-imposed challenge to put the guitar front and centre. As he put it, he wanted to make a record where the riffs really stick in your head. The result leans into menacing riffs, soaring leads and wailing distortion, aiming to capture the sound of four human musicians playing together in a room, a deliberate contrast to the increasingly automated feel of modern life.

This upcoming show marks a rare opportunity to see They Are Gutting a Body of Water live in Luxembourg, in a space that suits their raw and enveloping approach perfectly.
