In their own way, Belgian band Puggy have a lot in common with their Luxembourgish fans. The trio, after all, hail from all over Europe: bassist Romain Descampe is from France, drummer Egil "Ziggy" Franzén from Sweden, whilst frontman and vocalist Matthew Irons is English.
Their music, too, incorporates all sorts of international influences. A pop-rock outfit, Puggy aren't afraid to dabble in Latin influences and get groovy with it. Their latest album, Are We There Yet?, shows off all these aspects of Puggy's sound: a modern and dance-y pop rock record with refined hooks and funky, delicate touches.
Besides traditional band ventures, Puggy have extensive credits in the world of cinematic soundtracks and composition, they've collaborated with orchestras, and founded Radio Kitchen, a creative studio based in Brussels.
The trio have also toured extensively since their founding in 2004 – and have done so alongside Deep Purple, and Incubus, Smashing Pumpkins. With a solid track record for catchy pop rock anthems and energetic live performances, Luxembourgish audiences can certainly expect a sonically electrifying night at later this May.
