
Police were called to Rue de la Frontière in Vianden at around 4.25am today after an ATM was blown up. The suspects fled before officers arrived and remain on the run. No one was injured, but the road was closed as forensic teams investigated.
The scale of the operation was still evident more than an hour later: at around 5.30am, unmarked police vehicles were seen speeding north on the A7, with several units stationed along the motorway towards Luxembourg City. The police helicopter was also spotted over Kirchberg at around 5.50am.
Police are now looking for a white Mercedes-Benz convertible with a black soft top, displaying the Luxembourg registration plate YQ8591, although police say the number plate was stolen.
Anyone who has seen the car is asked to contact police immediately on 113.
