
Two oil refineries have been hit by long range Ukrainian strikes, with one struck in Yaroslavl, and the other in Bashkortostan, 700km and 1300km from Ukraine respectively. Huge smoke plumes were visible over Yaroslavl, with the local governor reporting that the drones attacking the region had been intercepted by falling debris that sparked fires and damaged storage tanks.
The refinery is one of Russia's largest and has come under repeated attack from Ukraine in recent months as they aim to limit oil revenues Moscow uses to finance its war, with
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky saying the attacks were "strengthening the prospects for diplomacy", and that "Russia must choose peace," he added, posting a video from Russian social media of black smoke rising above an oil facility.
