BERLIN PRIDE ATTACK – German police have shot dead the chief suspect in Saturday's deadly attack near Berlin's Pride parade; 21-year-old Abdul Ballout was traced to Spandau, where officers say he charged them with a bladed weapon. He died at the scene. One woman was killed and 29 others wounded in the attack.
Speaking to RTL, Luxembourg student Ben Poull, who was near the scene minutes before Saturday's Pride attack, said he and his friends narrowly avoided being caught up in it. He described the Christopher Street Day as warm and welcoming, and said the idea it may have been targeted was deeply upsetting.
HEATWAVE – Luxembourg's fourth heatwave of the summer is on its way, with temperatures set to hit 38°C by Thursday. It comes as a severe drought and numerous fires are already being recorded.
LAKE VISITOR NUMBERS – With thousands of visitors heading to Esch-sur-Sûre lake this summer, residents say the roads and parking can't cope. Esch-sur-Sûre council has now put up barriers and hired security to keep Lultzhausen's streets clear, but locals want a national plan covering signage, parking, and beach rules across the whole lake.
UK UKRAINE – British Prime Minister Andy Burnham will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today, using his first meeting with a foreign leader since taking office to underline London's "unwavering support" for Kyiv. The visit comes ahead of Zelensky's trip to Washington tomorrow.
EUROPE WILDFIRES – Firefighters are battling on multiple fronts today as huge wildfires continue to tear through southwest France and central Spain, with another heatwave forecast to make things worse. More than 325,000 people have already fled their homes. President Macron is holding emergency talks this morning. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will visit fire-hit areas in Valencia today.
AUSTRALIA QUADRUPLETS – An Australian woman has given birth to identical quadruplets in Brisbane, in what doctors say may be the only known case of its kind in the country and only happens about once in 15 million. Emily, Harriet, Alexa, and Catherine were born at 28 weeks and all four babies are healthy.
CYCLING – Tadej Pogacar has claimed his record-equalling fifth Tour de France title as Mathieu van der Poel won a sensational 21st and final stage around Paris on Sunday.
FORMULA 1 – World champion Lando Norris claimed his first win of the season and 12th of his career with a resounding triumph for McLaren ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen in Hungarian Grand Prix.
