Formed in Tumba, Sweden, in 1992, Amon Amarth have spent more than three decades turning the imagery of Viking history, folklore and culture into some of heavy metal's biggest anthems.
From their 1998 debut Once Sent From The Golden Hall onwards, the five-piece have built an unmistakable sound, combining different strains of heavy metal with epic storytelling and explosive, theatrical live performances.
That combination has taken them from the underground to festival headline slots across Europe, while their relentless touring has seen them take their music around the world, including appearances on Slayer's final tours in the US in 2019 and the UK in 2025.
Amon Amarth's rise has been powered by a catalogue that has steadily established them as one of the best-known names in modern metal.
Their acclaimed 2008 album Twilight Of The Thunder God became one of the defining records of their career, while 2016's conceptual Jomsviking continued the band's fascination with Viking history and mythology.
It's a world that translates particularly well to the stage, where the scale and drama of the music have helped Amon Amarth build a reputation as one of metal's most formidable live acts.
Their most recent full-length album, The Great Heathen Army, saw Amon Amarth once again aim to push their established sound forward.
Recorded with producer Andy Sneap, the album ranges from the rabble-rousing "Find A Way Or Make One" and pounding "Get In The Ring" to "Saxons & Vikings" and the cinematic title track.
It keeps the hallmarks of Amon Amarth firmly intact while giving the band room to explore new ideas, both musically and lyrically.
Amon Amarth won't be arriving alone.
They're joined at Rockhal by fellow Swedish bands Orbit Culture and Soilwork, making it a three-band bill showcasing different generations of the country's metal scene.
With all three bands on the lineup and doors opening at 17:30, this one promises to be a full evening of heavy music rather than simply a headline set.

We've got tickets to give away to see Amon Amarth, Orbit Culture and Soilwork live at Rockhal.
