
When Pete Doherty was banned from the Libertines for substance issues, he simply resolved to launch a new band.
And while it took a while for Babyshambles to properly take off, this 'side-project' soon became a fully-fledged indie outfit with a core following and distinct sound.

Their first studio album, Down in Albion, received strong reviews and garnered quite some public attention, mixing properly English garage rock, punk, and indie influences.
And whilst the band was sometimes overshadowed by Doherty's private tribulations, they nevertheless maintained their approach, releasing two further studio albums – Shotter's Nation (2007) and Sequel to the Prequel (2013).
Following some live performances in 2014, the band took an extended hiatus. It wasn't until 2024, during a Doherty solo gig, that Peter, Drew McConnell, Adam Ficek, and Mick Whitnall all shared a stage once more.
With rumours of a reunion on the cards, Doherty officially announced their return March, 2025.

Unfortunately, former lead guitarist Patrick Walden would pass away on 20 June, 2025. Doherty and the band posted tributes on social media and asked for privacy whilst they grieved.
Nevertheless, a reunited Babyshambles announced 10 UK tour dates for November and December of that year – marking their first outing(s) together in over 10 years.
Fans of Pete Doherty and Babyshambles will be delighted to hear of their just-announced show at den Atelier on Saturday, 5 December, 2026.
In fact, it'll be Pete Doherty's second time in the Grand Duchy this year, having joined the Luxembourg City Film Fest's jury last March.
Seems like he just can't get enough!
