What started in the summer of 1983 as the Summerfest um Séi ("Summer festival by the lake"), drawing a few hundred visitors, has since become known well beyond the country's borders as the e-lake festival. Up to the mid-1990s, the Summerfest had remained more or less successful. It came to an end in 1995, by which point competition from other local festivals had grown too fierce.
The Open Air Party was created in the summer of 1996 under a new concept, namely a festival by young people for young people, and with free admission at its heart. Year after year, more than 20,000 people head to the e-lake festival on the second weekend of August.
Past headliners include Polarkreis 18, Sportfreunde Stiller, Seeed and Paul van Dyk.
There is plenty going on around Echternach lake this weekend. The best way to get there is to make use of the shuttle buses. More information is available at e-lake.lu.
