Rita Rommerskirchen and Emi Trabut joined the Sam Steen Show on RTL Today Radio this morning to talk about this year’s edition, which takes place from May 22nd to 24th and marks the festival’s 10th in-person edition. Organised entirely by volunteers, the festival has grown into one of Luxembourg’s more distinctive independent cultural events, blending live music, art, workshops, food and family activities across a unique woodland-industrial setting.

“It’s really a festival for everyone,” the team explained, with programming designed to be as inclusive and varied as possible.

Three days, three different moods

This year’s festival is split into three themed days.

Friday’s “Noisy Friday” leans into punk, post-punk and heavier sounds, with acts including Axxident, Godsub and Ultra Nothing performing inside the old sawmill building.

Saturday shifts towards a more dance-oriented atmosphere, mixing indie, electronica and live performance across the site. The line-up includes MAZ Univerze, Emily Grogan, Aaron Ahrends and the Waffle Killers.

Sunday takes a more relaxed approach as the festival’s family day, with workshops, clown performances, a carousel and live music throughout the afternoon. Seed to Tree return for a rare appearance alongside acts including Iguana Death Cult and Man/Woman/Chainsaw.

More than just a music festival

While live music remains at the centre of Koll an Aktioun, organisers say the wider atmosphere is just as important.

Visitors can explore workshops, art installations, walking performances, markets and food spaces throughout the weekend, with much of the site open free of charge.

“The music is maybe the backbone,” Rita explained, “but all the other things happening around it are just as important for us.”

The festival also continues to focus on accessibility and inclusivity, with organisers aiming for a diverse line-up of local and international artists.
