Hamnet
Hamnet is a moving historical drama directed by Chloé Zhao, based on the acclaimed novel imagining the life of William Shakespeare’s family and the tragedy that inspired Hamlet. The story follows Shakespeare (Paul Mescal) and his wife Agnes (Jessie Buckley) in 16th-century England as they navigate love, loss and grief after the death of their young son - a loss that echoes through their lives and art.
Zhao’s adaptation blends richly observed period detail with deeply felt emotion, making Hamnet as much about intimate human bonds as it is about artistic legacy. The performances have been widely praised for their emotional weight and depth, anchoring the film’s exploration of family, memory and creation.
Return to Silent Hill
Directed by Christophe Gans, Return to Silent Hill is a psychological horror adaptation of the classic video game Silent Hill 2. The story centres on James Sunderland (Jeremy Irvine), who returns to the eerie, fog-shrouded town after receiving a mysterious letter from his lost love, Mary, only to find the once-familiar streets twisted by unknown evil forces.
As James delves deeper into Silent Hill’s nightmare-like reality, he confronts terrifying figures and unsettling visions, forcing him to question what is real and how far he’ll go to save the woman he loves. With Akira Yamaoka, the franchise’s iconic composer attached, the film promises a haunting audio-visual descent into psychological terror.
