Alex Carneiro joined the Sam Steen Show on RTL Today Radio this morning to talk about the festival, which takes place on 23 and 24 May and is organised in collaboration with several scouting organisations in Luxembourg. Inspired by the ancient Celtic celebration of the arrival of summer, the festival takes place every two years and combines sustainability, outdoor activities, and community spirit in a woodland setting.

“It’s really focused on sustainability,” Alex explained. “We have workshops, activities, vendors from Luxembourg and neighbouring countries, and lots happening throughout the weekend.”

Workshops, games and a giant wooden playground

The programme includes a wide range of creative workshops and activities, particularly aimed at families and children.

One of the highlights this year is a large-scale wooden games area featuring oversized versions of classic games.

“We have this huge wooden fun park,” Alex said. “Things like Connect Four, but massive, like one metre tall.”

Alongside the games and workshops, visitors can expect live entertainment, craft stalls, and activities spread throughout the festival grounds.

Food plays a big role too

As with many Luxembourg outdoor gatherings, food is a major part of the experience.

Saturday will feature spit-roasted pork and lamb, while Sunday’s centrepiece will be a full ox cooked on-site. Vegetarian and vegan options will also be available throughout the weekend.

“Since the beginning we’ve always had vegetarian and vegan alternatives too,” Alex noted.

Built by volunteers

Behind the scenes, the festival is a major undertaking for the organisers and volunteers involved.

“It’s basically a whole village we’re building in the woods,” Alex said, explaining that teams had already spent the previous week preparing the site.

The last edition attracted more than 1,000 visitors, and organisers are expecting another strong turnout this weekend.
