Coisa Mais Linda takes place in 1958 and follows Malu, a young woman from São Paolo who leaves her son with her rich parents to follow her husband to Rio de Janeiro where they are supposed to open a restaurant together. When she arrives, she discovers that he’s abandoned her, stealing the money meant to build the restaurant.
Dreading to go home defeated, she decides to open the restaurant on her own. Struggling at first, she soon makes friends amid the high society of Rio de Janeiro and meets Chico, a young musician who is at the start of an international career thanks to a new musical style, the Bossa Nova.
Most Beautiful Thing is mostly about Malu and the obstacles she must overcome to realize her dream, the love story with Chico, though important, is not the only thing going on, which makes this more than “just” a romance story. Add to that a relaxed and sunny mood created by a soundtrack of Bossa Nova and images of palm trees and sandy beaches, and you get the perfect escape from your own romantic woes.
