Grace and Frankie – Netflix
Grace and Frankie are not friends.
They know each other because their husbands, Robert and Sol have been working together as lawyers for over 20 years and have become more than mere colleagues.
How much more than colleagues they are, Grace and Frankie find out during a dinner where the women expected to be told that their husbands would – finally – retire. Instead Robert and Sol tell their stunned wives that they have been in love and a couple for the last 20 years. And that now, that same-sex marriage is legal, they want to divorce their wives in order to get married.
The women, who never really liked each other, find themselves living together in the beach house owned by both couples. Despite their very different personalities, they start supporting each other and learn to cope with an event that has upended both their lives and forces them to change at an age where they should be settling down and enjoy the last years of their lives.
“Grace and Frankie” stands out as a comedy because of the stellar cast. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are brilliant as two women having to cope with a new live and old age. The show first aired in 2015 and has been renewed for a seventh and final season.
“Grace and Frankie” is available on Netflix.
