Emily Byrne is an FBI Agent on the hunt for a serial killer in Boston when she disappears without a trace. Her Husband, also an FBI Agent, has her declared dead in absentia after a few years and remarries.
Six years later, Emily reappears, without memory of who abducted her. The only thing she remembers is being kept in a water tank.
Stana Katic, of “Castle” fame, is excellent as a woman almost broken by what happened to her, yet relentlessly going forward in her quest to find the people who not only abused her but are responsible for the loss of her family. Then new murder victims start appearing and Emily becomes a suspect, putting the stakes even higher.
Part psychological thriller, part action show, Absentia creates a dark atmosphere where fight scenes alternate with emotional dialogues, following a twisting, original story.
Although an American production, the show was completely shot in Bulgaria with an international cast.
