Queen of the South – Netflix
Teresa Mendoza works as a money changer in Sinaloa, Mexico when she meets Guero, a drug dealer. She falls in love with him and becomes his girlfriend, moving in the higher circles of the cartel. When she receives an anonymous call telling her to run, she realizes that her lover is dead, and that the cartel is coming to kill her.
Coming to Dallas illegally, Teresa is held captive in a facility run by Camila Vargas, the wife of the cartel owner, who doesn’t know her identity. Intended to be drugged and used as a prostitute by her captors, Teresa convinces Camila to use her as a drug mule instead.
In order to stay alive and protect the people she loves Teresa starts climbing the ranks inside the organization gaining more and more power. Yet, each time she thinks that she has finally vanquished her enemies, some new, bigger threat puts everything she has worked for at risk again.
The first four seasons of “Queen of the South” are available on Netflix, the fifth season was supposed to start this summer on USA before production had to be suspended due to Covid19.
