Brigada Costa del Sol – Netflix
Everything was better in the olden days. Take February for example. When we still went to work and could go to the restaurant or the movies. But if that seems too recent, you can time travel to the real good old times. All you need is an internet connection….
1977. Torremolinos, Costa del Sol. General Franco died two years ago, and Spain just elected its first parliament.
During Franco’s dictatorship there were, officially, no drugs in Spain. In Torremolinos, a small fishing village that is fast becoming an international tourist destination, hashish starts appearing as a recreational drug. The Brigada Costa del Sol is created to fight the budding drug trade.
Four cops from different backgrounds get put together to fight the Spanish and Moroccan drug mafia, after small time smuggler “the Owl” is killed. His daughter Yolanda insinuates herself into the investigation to find her father’s killer and take revenge.
Flare jeans, sideburns and mustaches, disco and beaches. The show has the look of old photos from holidays in Spain and comes across like a remake of Starsky&Hutch while showing people who still feel the echoes of a dark part of Spanish history.
Brigada Costa del Sol is available on Netflix.
