
During the event in Gondershausen, near Koblenz, a mini-tornado caught the bouncy castle and lifted it into the air. The children playing inside at the time of the incident were said to have fallen some 4-5 metres to the ground, according to initial police reports.
Nine children were injured, five of whom suffered serious injuries. Four were air-lifted to hospital, with support from the Luxembourg Air Rescue service. There are no further details on the children’s conditions.
Local police have opened an investigation into the incident.
A similar incident occurred on Saturday in Thüringen, Germany, where three children were injured after falling out of a bouncy castle.
