580 deaths and 3,292 patients in hospital - the situation in France's most affected region is not yet improving. Fortunately, neighbouring regions are coming to the rescue.

On Thursday, 3,292 people were hospitalised in the Grand Est region, with 701 patients in intensive care. 961 patients have been discharged from hospital after recovering from the virus.

580 people have died of the coronavirus, a figure which takes into account both those who tested positive, and those who were not tested, but died of complications related to the virus.

The situation is worsening, with the Regional Health Agency appealing to the public to stay at home, limit travel and respect the guidelines.

AIR EVACUATION AND THE MEDICAL TRAIN

A new evacuation for patients with coronavirus in eastern France has been scheduled for Friday .

In order to relieve pressure on hospitals in the Grand Est, the evacuation by air follows an unprecedented transfer of patients from the East to other regions by a medical TGV train.

The train arrived in Nantes at around 6pm on Thursday, after a stop in Angers. All patients are to said to have arrived in good condition.
