Starting with Luxembourg

  • An estimated ten percent of all Covid-19 patients still experience symptoms one month after the infection, impeding their everyday life. A pilot project launched by the Ministry of Health has been running in Mondorf-les-Bains to treat so-called long-Covid patients since mid-August.
  • The Delta variant remains dominant in Luxembourg at 96.7%. The Gamma variant accounts for only 3.3% of all cases.

And abroad

  • In the wake of full US approval for the Pfizer/BioNTech anti-Covid vaccine this week, more and more American companies are looking at mandatory vaccinations for employees -- and customers.
  • From 1 September, shopping malls, salons, hairdressers, foot massage parlours and sports fields in 29 provinces, including the capital Bangkok, are set to resume operations.
  • Thanks to significant vaccination coverage, the restrictions still in place in Denmark against Covid-19 will be lifted from 10 September, with the disease no longer considered “threatening for society” according to the Minister of Health on Friday.
  • In Cali, Colombia, authorities are dealing with a bizarre case in which a man was vaccinated against COVID-19 seven times. The 65-year-old man in question, according to the Ministry of Health, is known to suffer from psychiatric complications, but was able to produce vaccination confirmation tickets for seven first-time shots of the Pfizer, AstraZeneca, SinoVac, and Janssen vaccines. Authorities say the man has not presented any health complications resulting from the sheer number of vaccinations he went through and have no intention to press charges or punish the man.
