
Trier police confirmed that an accident near the Kaiser Wilhelm bridge took place around 7.20am, with 36 children aboard the school bus involved.
Sources report that at least 14 children were injured and in hospital, while city authorities said that 22 more are being tended to at the Toni-Chorus-Halle.
None of the injuries are expected to be fatal.

The accident has blocked one of the main axes in Trier, leading to traffic chaos in the city. It is expected the Martinsufer will remain closed for an extended period.
