A big moment for both the UK and the EU, as the former officially leaves the EU and enters the transition period (leading up to the end of the year). So what has happened today?

Well, the UK flag was was lowered outside the EU parliament in Brussels..

..and the EU flag went up in its place.

Glaswegians did their thing, and put a poignant cone on the statue of the Duke of Wellington

Nigel Farage warmed up well in advance of the official exit, in true Farage style.

..while fellow Brexiteer Steve Baker suggest his kin should celebrate with grace.

The date was also noted in Luxembourg, as BRILL (British Immigrants Living in Luxembourg) arranged a vigil to mark the occasion.

...and it all got rather musical:

BRILL 31012020
BRILL 31012020

Most importantly... PM Johnson speaks out

And so, the time has come

That’s it, folks - it’s 12pm, and the UK is gone. We’ll have more information for you as it unfolds, of course, but for now... here’s what you need to know if you’re British and living in Luxembourg.
