ROBBERY SUSPECT HELD – A man was arrested on Friday morning on suspicion of stealing a watch from a victim on Rue du Bois in Strassen, allegedly with the help of two accomplices. This follows a series of car break-ins in Strassen and Pfaffenthal, where windows were smashed to gain access. Police have been urging residents not to leave valuables or bags visible inside vehicles.
LU ALERT – At around 11am, residents in several central municipalities – including Walferdange, Niederanven, Schuttrange, Sandweiler, Hesperange and Luxembourg City – can expect to hear sirens and receive test SMS alerts on their phones. The trial is being carried out by the High Commission for National Protection (HCPN) and is purely a routine check.
MEUTE OPENS CONCERT SERIES IN NEUMÜNSTER – The band, who have played sold-out shows across Europe, as well as in the US and at major festivals including Coachella, proved once again that synths and laptops aren't essential for dance music as they performed for an excited crowd. Known for their distinctive blend of electronic beats and classic brass-band energy, 11 red-uniformed musicians from Hamburg drew more than 2,500 spectators to Neumünster Abbey on Saturday evening, kicking off this summer’s open-air concert series in style.

GAZA – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet Monday US President Donald Trump, who expressed hope for a "deal this week" between Israel and Hamas that sees hostages released from the Gaza Strip. Trump said Sunday there was a "good chance" of reaching an agreement. Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas began on Sunday evening in Doha, aiming to broker a ceasefire and reach an agreement on the release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
EUROPE – French-speaking King Charles III is hosting President Emmanuel Macron for a UK state visit starting on Tuesday. The visit, at the invitation of the monarch, is a rare privilege full of spectacular pomp and circumstance and an opportunity to strengthen a bilateral relationship which the king has called "indispensable". That visit, hailed as a symbol of "cordial detente" after Brexit, demonstrated a closeness between the two heads of state on issues such as Ukraine, but also on a personal level.
AUSTRALIA – A 12 person jury has found Australian Erin Patterson guilty of triple murder on Monday after Patterson laced her husband's parents and aunt's beef Wellington lunch with toxic mushrooms, at the climax of a trial watched around the world. Throughout a trial lasting more than two months, Patterson maintained the beef-and-pastry dish was accidentally poisoned with death cap mushrooms, the world's most-lethal fungus.
TEXAS FLOODS – Rescuers in Texas raced against time Sunday to find dozens of missing people, including children, swept away by flash floods that killed at least 78 people, with forecasters warning of new deluges. US President Donald Trump said he would "probably" visit the southern state on Friday. The president brushed off concerns his administration's wide-ranging cuts to weather forecasting and related federal agencies had left local warning systems worse-off.

ATHLETICS – Luxembourgish athlete Vera Bertemes set a new national record over 1500 metres on Saturday at a meeting in Poznan, Poland. The Luxembourger completed the track in 00:04:05.58, 34 hundredths of a second faster than her previous record, set last year on the same course.
TENNIS – Spain's Carlos Alcaraz lost three sets across his first three matches and fell behind against Russian 14th seed Rublev under the Centre Court roof before turning the match around in style, producing some of his best tennis in front of his adoring fans.
BASKETBALL – Superstar Kevin Durant is headed from the Phoenix Suns to Houston as part of an NBA-record seven-team deal, the Rockets confirmed on Sunday. The Rockets will also welcome back Clint Capela in a sign-and-trade deal with Atlanta, Houston said in a statement posted on the team website.
