HEREDITARY GRAND DUKE GUILLAUME - In a surprise announcement on Sunday, Grand Duke Henri revealed he will step back from his duties in October. His son, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, along with his wife, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie, will take over the governorship of Luxembourg. This historic transition involves Guillaume receiving the title of Representative Lieutenant, marking the start of succession. However, the full transition of the throne may take up to three years to complete. Grand Duke Henri will keep his official title, as this is not yet an abdication.
AVENUE DE LA LIBERTE - Luxembourg City's National Day celebrations included a grand military and civil parade on Avenue de la Liberte, attended by officials such as the Grand Duke and government ministers. The parade, a highlight of the festivities, featured 800 participants from the military, police, customs, prison wardens, the Red Cross, and the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps. Free admission attracted many spectators. City Sounds concerts took place the whole weekend with fireworks on Saturday night.
MISSING PERSON - Luxembourg police have issued an appeal for a missing man. Andrzej Szmid is between 1.8 and 1.90 metres tall and was last seen on Wednesday, June 19th. He is of slim build with grey hair and speaks English. Anyone with any information on the missing person or his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the City's police through the phone number (+352) 244 40 1000 or through an email at police.luxembourg@police.etat.lu.

PRESIDENT MACRON - French President Emmanuel Macron has committed to a change in his governing style regardless of the outcome of the snap elections scheduled for June 30th. Despite the possibility of a hung parliament, Macron has declared his intention to complete his term until 2027.
DALAI LAMA - The Dalai Lama, Tibet's 88-year-old spiritual leader, arrived in New York on Sunday for knee treatment. Thousands of followers, many in traditional Tibetan attire, warmly welcomed him outside his Manhattan hotel despite the intense heat. The specifics of his medical treatment have not been disclosed.

FOOTBALL – UEFA will enhance security measures at Euro 2024 following multiple pitch invasions during a Portugal match after several fans attempted to take selfies with Cristiano Ronaldo, who posed for a photo with a young boy but became frustrated when at least five more fans tried to approach him. This incident occurred during Portugal's 3-0 victory over Turkey in Dortmund.
TENNIS - With one week until Wimbledon, two-time winner Andy Murray has not decided if he will participate, possibly for the last time. The ATP initially announced on X that Murray withdrew after back surgery but quickly deleted the message, casting doubt on his fitness. Wimbledon starts on July 1st, and Murray is also racing to be fit for next month's Paris Olympics, where he has won gold twice.
