
Increasingly strong winds from the south-west will move into the Grand Duchy during the early hours of Friday, from around 2am to 3am onwards. Conditions are expected to remain uncomfortable for several hours, with wind gusts reaching up to 90km/h in some places, according to Meteolux. While the German weather agency Kachelmann reports gusts of up to 100km/h.
The yellow alert will be in place from 2am to 5pm for the whole country.
In addition to the wind alert, a separate yellow warning will be in effect from 6pm on Thursday, 8 January, until 11.59pm on Friday. The warning applies to the entire country, with accumulated rainfall of between 30 and 40 litres per square metre expected over a 24-hour period. Western parts of the country are forecast to be the most affected.
While rainfall will predominate in the Gutland region, the Éislek could experience heavy snowfall, although these are more likely to occur in the afternoon. Temperatures will be around 4°C in the morning before cooling again to between 0°C and 2°C later in the afternoon.
