According to reports from Le Républicain Lorrain, a 65-year-old man from a village near Sarrebourg died on Monday after falling into the Sarre Blanche near ‘Kiboki’ in Turquestein-Blancrupt. The victim was celebrating a birthday with friends and family in the area, but is said to have wandered away from the party for a few minutes to go to the banks of the Saar.
The other guests eventually grew concerned and went out to look for him. “They spotted and fished his body out of the stream a few steps away. The man was in cardiorespiratory arrest”, the report outlines.
The man’s relatives tried resuscitation and used a defibrillator while waiting for the emergency services to arrive, but they were unable to save him.
