In the early hours of Friday morning, bank robbers targeted and blew up an ATM in Echternacherbruck, just across the border on the German side. The incident has put the police on high alert.
Since Friday morning, authorities in Germany, Luxembourg, and Belgium have been actively investigating the explosive robbery that occurred at 2.50am. Several local residents alerted the police during the night. No one was injured.
The Sparkasse cash dispenser that was blown up is situated in the car park of the Norma supermarket on Bitburger Straße in Echternacherbruck.

According to information shared by the German police, as reported by the DPA press agency, the perpetrators carried out the robbery using a "highly motorised Audi" vehicle.
The investigation is still ongoing at the scene. Access to the area will remain restricted to the public for a portion of the morning.
Witnesses who can provide relevant information about the robbery or the getaway vehicle are asked to contact the police.
