According to initial reports, a nine-year-old boy fell 12 metres after trying to sit on the hand rail of an escalator while shopping with his mother and sister.
Passers-by and staff members gave the child first aid while waiting for the emergency services. The boy’s mother and one eye-witness also required treatment following the incident.
