13-year-old Célestine was at a friend’s house taking a bath when the phone charger plugged in right next to her, accidentally fell into the water.
The adolescent went into cardiac arrest after being electrocuted, but first responders still managed to reanimate her and rush her to a hospital. However, Célestine eventually succumbed to her wounds at the Femme Mère Enfant de Bron hospital in Lyon on Friday evening.
While her daughter was still in a coma, Célestine’s mother launched an appeal in local newspapers for children and young adults to no longer take their phones into the bathroom to avoid any unnecessary tragedies.
Célestine’s friend also suffered physical injuries during the incident, but is now mostly struggling with mental issues following the death of her friend.
