In the light of Pride month, we asked Marc Schernberg, Partner and Shine Leader at PwC Luxembourg, to talk about the challenges of the LGBTQ+ community, what there is still to do and how we can all make a difference to create an inclusive environment, for example by becoming an ally.

A while back, we introduced to you Shine, our initiative inside and outside PwC for LGBTQ+ people, allies and supporters (to refresh your memory, click here). As an inclusive business network, it serves to implement a safe working environment for everyone to be her/him or their selves in order to help unleash everyone’s potential. To promote this goal in Luxembourg, Shine has set up an ambitious action plan covering the training of leaders and key people managers, the creation and animation of PwC’s network of allies, events and common actions with external organisations and explicit HR and ethical policies, among others.

However, there is still a lot to be done, and even if it is important to bring inclusion and diversity topics to the upper management level and put it on the CEO's agenda, we all can, through little acts of respect and kindness, make a big difference everyday -and not only during Pride month.

This includes using inclusive language, stepping in and protecting when being a witness of discrimination, offering support and help when possible.

We would be very happy to see you joining us at the Luxembourg Pride Parade 2022 on 9 July in Esch.
