Police responded to a series of thefts and break-ins across Luxembourg on Friday.

The incidents began in the afternoon when security staff at a food shop on Rue de Strasbourg in Luxembourg City apprehended two individuals for shoplifting at approximately 2.20pm.

Subsequent police investigations linked the pair to additional thefts. By order of the public prosecutor’s office, they were brought before an examining magistrate on Saturday morning.

Several residential break-ins were also reported throughout the day.

Shortly after 5.30pm, intruders forced open the patio door of a home on Rue de Medernach in Stegen and ransacked the interior.

Additionally, a house on Route Principale in Everlange was burgled, resulting in the theft of jewellery.

At around 8pm, two further break-ins occurred. One took place on Rue de la Cité in Ehnen, where valuables were taken, and another on Dieswee in Esch-sur-Alzette, where money was stolen.

Police have launched investigations into all the break-in cases.
